Cooking with Home Canned Foods – Kindle Book {what I think}

Ok first off this book doesn’t teach you how to can it teaches you what you can do with what you’ve canned! I’ve been dabbling in the world of canning and trying to get all my supplies so that I can start to can but I have been wondering what I can do with everything I can. Yes there’s eating it directly but I wanted ideas on how to creatively use the things I had canned and what recipes were best for what. I know once I get to doing a new thing I go bonkers with it and I’ll probably have a pantry full of canned goods soon with no idea what to do with each one. Luckily this book does exactly that, gives you ideas of what to do with what!

Just in case you have yet to start canning the very beginning of this book has canning resources to help you learn how to can to utilize all the nifty ideas included in its chapters!

Learn to can:

The above were links mentioned in Cooking with Home Canned Foods!

Cooking with Home Canned Foods is an easy to read well thought out book I read it from cover to cover well page to page since I have a kindle version not a hard copy. Each chapter is broken up by items you might commonly find in your canned pantry, not every food could be included but the most common were selected to help give you an idea of how to go about finding recipes and ideas of your own for other canned goods you may have.

Chapter 1 starts out with Jams and Jellies which made me smile! You see I’ve been wanting to can and I love jams and jellies but I remember a time when one of my aunts got into canning and would give us tons of jars of jellies, jams, and such and we had no idea what to do with them. I mean yea put it on morning goodies or make pb&j but after a while it starts to pile up and just sit there. I have to say after reading a few of the recipes included I thought to myself ‘why didn’t I think of that’ we could have done so much with those jellies and jams!

I especially liked the recipes included for pumpkin, no pumpkin pie was not included as you’d probably already have thought about making that. The recipes are fresh ideas and with those recipes are added ideas of other ways to incorporate pumpkin into any recipes you already have!

If your a seasoned canner or a beginner this book has useful info if you’ve ever questioned what to do with anything you can! I found it helpful and am excited to start my canning adventure! With the 30 recipes included you’ll not only have ideas but will surely save cash by using your canned goods in your daily meals!
