Giant Marimo Moss Balls

Who else loves Marimo Moss Balls?! We used to have one with our beloved Beta fish Mike who passed away a while before our move up here to Wisconsin. We’ve been planning on getting another Beta and of course we thought of buying some more Marimo Moss Balls to have in it’s tank. The stores near us don’t seem to have them in stock too often and if they do they’re usually small.

LUFFY Giant Marimo Moss Ball x 3 pcs + 1 Free Nano Marimo sold on Amazon are only $13.95 and super convenient.

I was a little worried about ordering these guys online since I live up north I was kinda terrified they’d be left on my porch and freeze. Luckily they came, a knock was heard at my door and these little guys were perfectly find inside the slightly padded envelope. The baggie they come in is thick plastic and they were damp when opened. I popped these guys into a mason jar with water until we get our tank (watqer should be changed weekly) and they plumped up the full round balls! They’re kinda adorable! The 3 large ones are a fair size and the tiny one is super cute. I remember our Beta fish would push his Marimo Moss Ball around the tank so I’m sure once we have our tank set up our new Beta will have a bunch of fun with the tiny Marimo Moss Ball! As a tiny bonus we had a lil sliver of random moss in there too!

Check these guys out!

The Japanese believe that Marimo will bring good luck. Hence, they grow it in a glass bottle with just some water & ceiling light. Water change is only required once every 2 weeks
Marimo is a very popular plant in Japan. The growth rate of Marimo is about 5 mm per year. Hence a giant marimo is about 7 years old!.
This plant does NOT cause algae problem. Propagate by dividing into smaller pieces, which become spherical over time. Negligible maintenance required.
Some things you can use: In addition to being a great aquarium product, it also brings good luck and fortune according to a Japanese legend. Very beautiful and low maintenance plant.

This companies info gave me a greater understanding of these lil guys and a bit more respect as I had no idea they only grow 5mm per year! Being a plant lover I’m super happy about these! Apparently these guys are being used as pets… since it’s an easily not killable plant, decor, as well as for aquariums! The Marimo Petstore sells all different sizes even little hearts, I’m hoping to do a little bit of living decor with a heart from their store too! Pretty impressed!
