Homemade Mock Pop Tarts

***Alwasys use as many organic ingredients as possible!***

I saw this done once and decided to do it myself. I used organic ingredients all that were possible, and my own pie crust recipe then took pics for you guys! This is actually really easy to do, and uber fun!

All you need is a pie crust recipe, some people have their favorites… I have my secret pie crust and gonna keep that a secret lol but for a basic pie crust here ya go:

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup butter

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

4-8 tbsp ice water

For instructions see here: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_pie_crust

As for me I used my awesometastic pie crust with my secret ingredients but that recipe will work good!

After your pie crust is prepared roll it out nice and flat but dont make it too too thin…

Next, you can do this before or after you close the mock pop tart… I sliced off the uneven parts to leave a rectanglish square to work with. I used a pizza cutter.

Then, you put your favorite jam or jelly. I put strawberry jam and orange marmalade in mine.

Next fold over to have the jam in a nice little pocket.

Then close the sides together by pushing a fork down on the edges and cut vents at the top.

That’s the hardest part lol. Then you brush an egg wash over the top and sprinkle with either normal sugar, raw sugar or brown sugar and then pop them into the oven at 400 degrees for 18-20 min.

Now eat them! They’re addicting!

SERIOUSLY PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN EATING THESE! WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE COMPLETELY COOLED BEFORE EATING ONE, I HAVE BURNED MYSELF WITH HOT JAM RUNNING OUT ONTO MY MOUTH AND HANDS BEFORE BECAUSE I WAS IMPATIENT AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT… ITS PAINFUL.
